Manchester United and Chelsea are now exploring a swap deal that would send Christopher Nkunku to Old Trafford in exchange for winger Alejandro Garnacho, says a report.
Chelsea has increased their interest in Garnachowho is expected to cost in the region of £60million, having seen the Argentinian lose prominence to new United boss Ruben Amorim.
There were reports of talks on a swap deal taking place earlier this month, and this has been reignited by claims from Sky Sports Germany that united they are now looking at bringing in Nkunku in return.
ESPN were among the first to report United's interest in Nkunku, who has suffered terribly for minutes under Enzo Maresca and has been heavily linked with a blockbuster move to Bayern Munich this month.
Talks of a swap deal are far from advanced or concrete, but it is an idea that has been floated between the two sides, both of whom have shown a willingness to get creative with transfers to avoid falling foul of the Premier League's financial rules.
Chelsea had emerged as the favorite to sign Garnacho when other Napoli colleagues began to look elsewhere, but Gianluca Di Marzio says the Serie A side are back in contention after struggling to convince Karim Adeyemi to leave Borussia Dortmund.
English sources say Garnacho's preference would be to join Chelsea this month if he is to leave United, while Italian media claim Garnacho prefers Napoli.
