Aakash Chopra breaks silence on Nitish Kumar Reddy's injury
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra spoke about Nitish Kumar Reddy's injury that ruled him out of the entire T20I series against England. Chopra feels the workload of international cricket could have caught up with the youngster as he played all five Tests in Australia.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy is injured. He has been ruled out of the entire series. You have to think, 'What would have happened?'” I wonder how this would have happened.
“Workload and pressure go hand in hand. He played 5 Tests in Australia. He played there. He was on the ground constantly. He batted and even bowled a bit. It takes an effect. Believe it or not , is a small child.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been an integral part of the Indian team in both Test and T20I format. The allrounder has been impressive in both formats and has shown the temperament to score big runs.
“Maybe the body wasn't ready…” – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra further gave his opinion and claimed that Nitish Kumar Reddy's body was not ready for such a workload which led to the injury. Reddy was replaced by another fast floating shivam Dube.
“All of a sudden you realize there's an injury. I think something happened. Maybe the body wasn't ready for that kind of workload and pressure and he broke down. Shivam Dube was called into the squad in Nitish Kumar Reddy's place,” Chopra said.
Along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Rinku Singh was also ruled out for at least the second and third T20IS. Rinku experienced a low back spasm while fielding in the first T20I. The BCCI is closely monitoring his body and he is likely to return to the field soon.
