Former midfielder and Roma Radja Nainggolan has been arrested as part of a cocaine trafficking investigation in Belgium.
The 36-year-old is understood to have been detained by Belgian police after they carry out a number of raids allocated across the country.
Press Associated The report that 30 research was carried out on Monday morning, in the province of Antwerp and inside and around Brussels, with 2.7 kilograms of cocaine, luxury items worth over € 500,000 and over 350,000 money were found by the authorities.
Nainggolan spent four years in Rome between 2014 and 2018 after a similar length in Cagliari, and eventually moved to current Serie A holders intercept. He was one of the country's most prominent midfielders at the time of the Movement, but failed to place himself as regular in San Siro.
The fighting star recently ended a long spell out of the game by signing for commercial Lockera, who learned about his arrest by reading media reports.
“The club respects the presumption of innocence and therefore cannot comment on,” a statement of the club is read. “We can only confirm that the player was missing from training this morning. The club will continue to focus on the next match of tomorrow's League against KAS Eupen. Radja Nainggolan has no right to play in that match anyway.”
16 people have been arrested, the public prosecutor's office in Brussels confirmed, with an investigation focused on the alleged import of cocaine into the country from South America to Antwerp's transport ports.
Nainggolan has been seized 30 times by Belgium, but he has not appeared to the national team in six years. He has two main honors for his name – 2020/21 Series a Title and 2022/23 Belgian pro -league title – and was named after the Serie A team of the year in all four full seasons in Rome.
