Former Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal has reportedly retired from international cricket but is still an active player in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). During the match between Khulna Tigers and Fortune Barishal, Tamim showed a great example of the spirit of the game.
Khulna Tigers captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz was bowled by a finger-crushing yorker from fast bowler Ebadot Hossain in the last over of the power play. The ball landed on Miraz's boot and he was in immense pain.
Mehidy went to the ground immediately when he was seen limping. Finding his counterpart in an uncomfortable state, Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal wasted no time in rushing towards him. Instead of celebrating the wicket, Tamim offered to help Mehidy and helped him to the stretcher.

Totally challenging by Khulna Tigers
After hitting the boot, the ball kept hitting the stumps. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed for a quickfire 29 off 18 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes. Miraz made good use of the powerplay restrictions and helped his team to a flyer.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz's opening partner Mohammad Naim smashed 51 off 27 deliveries. The left-hander hit 5 fours and 3 sixes. The rest of the batters got starts but couldn't convert them into big batters.
Alex Ross and William Bosisto scored 20 runs each while Afif Hossain hit 32 off 27 balls. Wicketkeeper Mahidul Islam Ankon hit a quickfire 27 off 12 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes, helping his team post a challenging total of 187-5 on the board.
Fortune Barishal was chasing a big total
Chasing a big target, Fortune Barishal lost Towhid Hridoy early but Tamim Iqbal and Dawid Malan stitched an excellent partnership for the second wicket. Salman Irshad dismissed Tamim for 27 but Malan continued to score.
He formed vital partnerships with the experienced middle order of Mushqifur Rahim and Mahmudullah. Malan scored 63 off 37 balls and hit 8 fours and 3 sixes during his knock. Both Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah scored 24 runs each.
Pakistan's Faheem Ashraf made sure to end the game with a quick knock of 18 from just 6 balls. Veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi also hit 15 off 10 balls while Barishal chased down the target with five balls to spare.
With this win, Fortune Barishal maintained their second position in the points table with 8 wins and 2 losses and moved closer to the top spot, Rangpur Riders. Meanwhile, Khulna Tigers remained fifth.
Tamim Iqbal announced his official retirement from international cricket just a few days ago. He was earlier considered for the Bangladesh squad for the Champions Trophy but decided not to participate in the tournament as he has not played international cricket for a long time.
