RB Leipzig have confirmed SIGNING of midfielder Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent base.
Simons joined Leipzig borrowed from PSG in the summer of 2023, shortly after the French side had parted with € 6 million to re-sign it from PSV Eindhoven, and without extending the loan last summer after being set as a player the main for leipzig.
This action has now returned permanent, with reports suggesting that Leipzig has been allocated by an initial € 55m (£ 46m), plus another € 26 million (£ 21.8m) to get the agreement up to a total of 81 million € (£ 67.8 million).
Such a fee would be the second highest in the history of Bundesliga, after the purchase of only 95m of Harry Kane Bayern Munich by Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
“I have always said that I feel extremely at home in Leipzig and that I am honored by the appreciation shown by me by the club,” Simons said. “Over the next few weeks and months, I will be able to freely pursue our common goals to qualify for the Champions League for the seventh season, and to reach the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin-Tedo are the only things that matter now! “
Meanwhile, PSG also bid farewell to the center of Milan Skriniar, who has joined the Turkish Fenerbahce team with loans by the end of the season.
Skriniar was very much related to the Premier League or Serie A movements, but will now continue his career under Jose Mourinho's tutelage.
