Devdutt Padikkal he has put his name in the history books more than history Ruturaj Gaikwad and Virat Kohli in List A Cricket. The exceptional performance of the Karnataka batsmen in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 has cemented his position as one of the most promising talents in India.
Devdutt Padikkal broke his record
In the semi-final clash against Haryana, Padikkal smashed 86 runs off 113 balls, hitting four fours and one six. His innings inspired Karnataka to chase down a target of 238 runs and secure a place in the finals of the tournament. Notably, Padikkal also scored his seventh consecutive fifty-plus in the match, which equaled his record set in the 2021-22 season.
Padikkal has now scored over 2000 runs in A Cricket, boasting an average of 82.38 – more than his personal best Ruturaj Gaikwad (58.16), Michael Bevan (57.86), Virat Kohli (57.05) is AB de Villiers (53.47).

“It's the type I like to fight”: Padikkal
Talking about his innings after the match against Haryana, Padikkal said, “It's the type I like to play against, when I come back to beat Karnataka it will be exciting. Look to go ahead, it was downhill and Smaran and I were able to clear the singles and keep the score.”
He added: “Try to move your body to the ball, if you step back then you're going to be in trouble and I felt he hit that part really well.”
Padikkal was part of the India A team that recently toured Australia, where he played a match with the Prime Minister's XI before getting the chance to play in the Perth Test. However, he could not capitalize on this opportunity, managing figures of 0 and 25 in the first five Tests.
