The upcoming Genesis Invitational has been moved from Riviera Country Club due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, the PGA Tour confirmed Thursday.
Tiger Woods was supposed to host the tournament, which is scheduled for 13-16. February, on a trail located in Pacific Palisades, which has been decimated by fires.
Details on the new venue and arrangements for the PGA Tour Signature Event – featuring a star-studded field – follow.
“The PGA Tour's focus remains on the safety and well-being of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles,” the PGA Tour said in a statement.
“We are grateful for the efforts of the first responders and the tireless work being done to stop the tragic fires.
“We have decided that The Genesis Invitational 2025 will be played at an alternate location during the week of February 10-16.
“A venue update and additional tournament information will be provided in the coming days.”
Woods' focus on helping 'anyone who struggles'
Speaking earlier this week, Woods insisted his focus was on supporting those affected by the bushfires, not what would happen to the tournament.
“We're trying to figure everything out and make sure everyone's safe and we've got appointments going forward,” Woods said Tuesday.
“At the moment, we are not really focused on the tournament. It's more about what we can do to help everyone who is struggling, who have lost their homes and whose lives have been changed. There are so many other things that are bigger than that (tournament).”
Woods previously posted on X: “The ongoing devastation of the LA fires is such a tragedy and being from California it hits home. My heart goes out to those who have suffered unimaginable loss.
“Thank you to the incredible hero first responders who are helping to contain and save the Los Angeles community. We plan to provide updates on our own charitable efforts to help those communities in the coming weeks. Stay strong LA!”
