Newcastle United manager Edinworth says he does not have the money to make a big signing this month and winger Miguel Almiron could leave the club.
Newcastle have not made a major signing since missing out on Marc Guehi last summer, with the £32m arrival of Tino Livramento from Southampton in August 2023.
Howe said the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules, which have forced clubs to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, remain a challenge as spending constraints force them to sell.
Almiron is the latest player linked to a move to MLS this month.

Howe said: “Nobody wants to lose players from our current squad, especially when we're a bit fragile. Why would you want to put yourself in this position?
“But when you are armed with all the facts; Sometimes you have to feel that short-term pain.
“This summer was different and I don't know if all of a sudden the outlook will change completely. I think that's for another day. I mean, I hope the future beyond that is very different.
“There is no pot of money waiting to be spent; That's June 30th, so make sure you follow the rules from that day forward. Obviously, if you run out of money, you have to get it back the next day.”
Meanwhile, Howe and his players will be focused on trying to make it a club-record 10 wins in a row when they face his former club Bournemouth on Saturday.
Fabian Schar is a doubt due to illness, while goalkeeper Nick Pope is close to returning.
