Last season was a season to forget for the Pistons, who finished with the worst record in the NBA. Their struggles were led by an all-time 28-game losing streak. However, Detroit looked like a completely different team to start 2025.
On Tuesday night, the Pistons defeated the Brooklyn Nets to move to 19-18 on the season. It was a monumental win for them, as it was the first time they were over .500 in January in seven years.

As Cade Cunningham continues to dazzle for the Detroit Pistons, his All-Star case has slowly picked up. After his dominant outing over the weekend, one past NBA champion said the young guard deserves a nod this year.
On Saturday night, the Pistons took on the Minnesota Timberwolves. It will be a duel between Cunningham and a pair of former top picks Anthony Edwards had a great night. Despite the Timberwolves star scoring a career-high 53 points, the Pistons came away with the win.
The main reason the Pistons were able to spoil Edwards' night was the play of Cade Cunningham. He did it all for Detroit, finishing with 40 points, six rebounds and nine assists.
NBA fans went wild on social media after the matchup, with Kendrick Perkins even getting into the fray. The former Boston Celtics big man told X (formerly Twitter) that Cunningham should be an All-Star.
Cunningham has plenty of guards to compete in the Eastern Conference when it comes to an All-Star spot. However, given how he's performed so far, he has a chance to either break through or be one of this year's biggest underdogs.
