Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou insisted his belief in his project is unwavering despite Sunday's crushing loss to Evertonbut admitted that new signings are vital to turn things around.
A shocking first-half performance looked like the final nail in Postecoglou's coffin as Spurs went 3-0 down to the relegation-threatened Toffees, only for a spirited second-half display to leave Postecoglou feeling upbeat.
“If you look at the situation we are in, it will eventually dissolve,” Postecoglou said. Sky Sports after the match. “Of course I hope and believe it will happen.
“We'll give ourselves the chance to get consistency in performance and results. I've certainly not lost the belief or determination to turn it around and the players showed in the second half that they haven't either.”
However, Postecoglou acknowledged his side's ongoing battle with injuries – strikers Dominic Solanke was the last to be sidelined with a knee injury – should force Spurs to act before the transfer window closes.
“We're pretty stretched,” he said. “We had 11 players fit enough to start the game. We weren't in full control of our set-up and Everton capitalized on that and we paid the price for it. Radu (Dragusin) had to leave because of the deep cut and restructuring .
“There will be urgency (in the transfer market) but there's no need for me to say that, everyone can see that. These players need help, that's for sure, and hopefully in the next ten days we'll find a solution, we're not the only ones in the market.
