Controversy erupts as BCCI refuses to print Pakistan’s name on India’s jersey for Champions Trophy 2025



The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come to an argument before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025and reports that seem to have been denied publication by the Indian cricket team Pakistanname on Team Indiajerseys.

The tournament, which will be co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE, has now seen controversy rise following the decision. With India's match scheduled to be played in Dubai, the issue of Pakistan's status as the host nation has become a hot topic.

PCB chief criticizes BCCI for politicizing cricket

In response to BCCI's decision, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) The official has strongly criticized the Indian Board for politicizing cricket. An unnamed PCB official said the refusal to print Pakistan's name on India's jersey was yet another example of BCCI infiltrating politics in the game.

“BCCI is bringing politics into cricket, which is not good for the game. They refused to go to Pakistan. They don't want to send their captain (to Pakistan) to participate in the opening ceremony, there are reports that they don't want the name of Pakistan printed on their jersey,” PCB official said as reported by IANS.

The controversy stems from the BCCI's refusal to send the Indian captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan for the opening ceremony of the tournament. The decision was frowned upon by the PCB as the Indian captain's absence from the opening ceremony was seen by many as a symbolic betrayal.

He expresses confidence that the ICC will intervene in the matter

The PCB chief is still hopeful that The International Cricket Council (ICC) have intervened in this matter to ensure that Pakistan, as the host of the Champions Trophy 2025, is well known. The official believes that the ICC, as the governing body of Cricket in the world, will prioritize the fairness and integrity of the game.

“We hope that the international governing body (ICC) will not allow this to happen and support Pakistan,” added the officer.
