John Cena WWE kicked off their retirement tour on the Netflix premiere of RAW. The Cenation Leader announced that he plans to compete in the upcoming 2025 Royal Rumble PLE to win his 17th world title.
Speaking in his last release What Were They Thinking? On Backstage Pass, John Cena Sr. was asked to share his thoughts on his son's impending retirement from WWE.
“I can't speak for John. I've never discussed why or how it happened. But I think you all know when you're in the business when you've had enough. And I guess his theory is, 'I'm going to go the way I used to and perform. If I can't perform well, maybe it's time to step back.”
He continued:
“And you know, when you look at the streak he had in the 2000s with all those matches, I guess you have to sit back and really think a little bit. I certainly don't want to see him go. That's when you know when it's time in everybody's life.” (from 01:37)
John Cena will likely return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. Whether it is the former remains to be seen two-time Royal Rumble winner It may reach three on February 1, 2025.
