Erling Haaland delivers the verdict on Man City's 115 charges after signing a new contract

Erling Haaland has backed Manchester City to clear their name in the ongoing legal battle against the Premier League.

City have been charged with 115 alleged breaches of the league's financial rules, with many speculating that a guilty verdict could see Pep Guardiola's side forcefully relegated from England's top flight.

This does not seem to be a concern for Haaland as a 24-year-old signed one of the biggest contracts in football history to be tied to City until 2034.

Asked if he had negotiated a possible exit route himself if town are down at the bottom of the legal dispute, Haaland simply laughed: “No.”

“I didn't think about it or anything,” he continued. “I'm confident the club know what they're doing. And, yes, in the end… I really don't think I need to talk too much about it.

“I've been here for two-and-a-half years, so, yes, I'm confident the club know what they're doing.”

Haaland's new contract comes as a huge blow to players like Real Madrid AND Barcelonawho were planning to take advantage of the increasingly viable release clause in his previous contract. When asked if he could join Madrid or another European giant in the future, Haaland once again found humor in the question.

He replied: “Madrid's? I've just signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract with City, what can I say?

“I am happy not to play for any of those teams and with my choice.
