Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Brazilian Kerolin Nicoli on a three-and-a-half-year deal until 2028.
The 25-year-old joins from NWSL the North Carolina Courage team where she was named the first South American NWSL Most Valuable Player in 2023 after helping her club to the Challenge Cup that same year. She also has 45 caps under her belt for the Brazilian national team.
Carolyn becomes city'The third addition of the January transfer window following the arrivals of Rebecca Knaak and Aemu Oyama. She will wear the number 14 jersey for the rest of the season.
The striker told mancity.com: “I'm really excited to be here. I think there were many reasons why I chose City and one of them was to play in the Champions League.
“I think the players (in WSL) are really technical and the team is compact. I want to be better, learn different things and come here to be challenged, also to play against defenders who will play in the next World Cup in Brazil in 2027.
“I am very excited to be part of the team. I have a lot of confidence, but I know I have to keep working hard to be great here. There will be some differences between here and where I played before, but I'm very excited.”
The move comes at a time when England international Chloe Kelly faces an uncertain future at the club with her contract expiring at the end of the season. The 26-year-old missed Sunday's Manchester derby, with Telegraph reporting Manchester United are keen to sign the winger on loan for the remainder of the season.
However, Gareth Taylor insisted her absence was due to an ankle injury it was held during a training session and the club are not aware of any speculation about a move away in January. City lost Sunday's derby 4-2 at the Etihad as their title hopes suffered a major blow.
City have now dropped to fourth in the WSL table, two points behind Arsenal and United and nine behind runaway leaders Chelsea.
