Aston Villa striker Duran has fallen behind Manchester City.

Manchester City found themselves on the back foot again this afternoon at Villa Park as John Duran made Guardiola's struggling defense even poorer.

Named ahead of Ollie Watkins in the starting XI, the Colombia striker slotted home after 16 minutes, converting Morgan Rogers' cross.

Villa went close twice before scoring. First Duran looked clear 19 seconds later, but Stefan Ortega saw his shot go wide. From the resulting corner, the German headed Pau Torres' header wide and fired the ball over the line.

Jack Grealish did his best against his former club, but City managed to create little in the opening 35 minutes. Their best effort went to Phil Foden, but his shot was saved by Emilino Martinez in the Villa goal.

Manchester City enter the competition with just one win in their last 11 games.
