Chris Wood: Nottingham Forest striker signs two-year deal with Premier League club | Football News

Chris Wood has signed a new two-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

Wood has scored 14 goals in 22 Premier League games this season, helping Nottingham Forest climb to third in the table.

The New Zealand international was due to be out of contract at the end of the season but has now followed centre-back Murillo in committing his future to Nottingham Forest.

“You can see the dream and the ambition of this club,” Wood said Sky Sports News.

“We had a great start to the season, now in the middle. We still have a lot to achieve and strive for.

“But I think this club, the ownership, the staff, the players and the fans have a lot to achieve and grow into a great club again.

“I'm full of confidence and a lot of belief has been instilled in me from the manager to my teammates.

“It's the biggest confidence booster for a striker (to score goals). You still have to do the hard work for the team and make sure your teammates are doing well at the same time, but it's a big confidence-booster when you score goals.”

Nuno delighted with Murillo's new deal

Murillo spoke exclusively to Sky Sports

Speaking ahead of this weekend's trip to Bournemouth, Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo said he was delighted to count on Murillo to continue after the Brazilian penned a contract until 2029.

“I think he is a player with enormous talent,” Nuno said.

“He can improve a lot because of his age. I think he joined us last season and the improvement is there.

Nottingham Forest are ready to break the club record to sign Matheus Cunha, but other Premier League clubs are tracking the player – including Arsenal

“I think as long as he's healthy and available, everything will be great.

“It's good for us. Basically, it's good for us that our players who are here are happy, motivated and committed.

“There is no doubt. There is no player in our team who does not have this feeling of improvement, commit to a good competition. Murillo is just another one.

“He's just another one. He's not assigned to anybody. The core of the team is what it is, and they have to be happy and play well and compete well.

“This is what we want. Our priority is the players who are here. These are the ones who are getting good results and want to go and try to compete as best as we can.”
