Players' ratings as Hammers fight for the Merit Breeding

West Ham United returned to win a deserved 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

A perfect start for Villa saw the hosts on the advantage after eight minutes. A smart one-two with Ollie Watkins sent Jacob Ramsey to attack at the gate and the midfielder did not go wrong with a quiet blow to the lower corner. Morgan Rogers had an excluded for offside almost immediately after.

West Ham should have equalized in a host of cases at the beginning of the second half, but they deservedly equalized things in the 70th minute after Emerson arrived unpaid in the back to hit a cross by Edson Alvarez.

From both sides, it was West Ham who seemed most likely to continue and win it, but a tired Villa outfit managed to cling to part of the spoils.
