Promoter Frank Warren lost something fierce in the rematch in Riyadh on Saturday night after his fighter Tyson Fury lost to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk by unanimous decision in 12 rounds.
Fury's quick exit
Fury then fled the ring, not wanting to face the music and be put on fire to be roasted by the media. What does that tell you? If he thought he had won, he would have stuck, reared up on his hind legs, and whined about it.
The judges got it right, scoring Usyk, 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. I had it 10-2 in favor of Usyk. Even in close rounds, Fury was doing nothing but throwing backhands and weak jabs.
Warren was “flabbergasted” by the scores of the two judges, who had Usyka (23-0, 12 KOs) winning every round from the sixth onward against former WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). Another judge said Fury had only won one round in the last six.
I watched the fight and I had Usyk wiping out every round from the heel. It seemed easy to score, as Fury's reflexes looked like they were firing and he was doing next to nothing offensively. He looked like he was afraid to throw punches for fear that Usyk's left hand would shoot back like a sniper.
The once lanky Fury who defeated Wladimir Klitschko at his peak in 2015 is gone tonight. In his place was a flabby 40-year-old heavyweight who was unable to pull the trigger on his punches.
Gypsy King fought exactly as the then 39-year-old Vladimir fought him nine years ago. Wlad couldn't pull the trigger that night in Dusseldorf, Germany and Fury was the same tonight. He was mentally closed,
Astonished
'I was speechless. They gave him (Fury) four rounds out of twelve, which is impossible,” promoter Frank Warren told TNT Sports Boxing, complaining about his fighter, Tyson Fury, who lost on points to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch in Riyadh.
“I know I'm biased, but one judge didn't give him a single round from the sixth round on. How can that be? That is impossible. The same with the other judge here. He gave him one round of the last six. Same here with this guy. it's a madhouse
“I am calm, I am collected. I don't scream or shout. That's nonsense. Everyone in that front row there. Oscar De La Hoya and I were beating him (Fury) by three or four rounds. It's Oscar and he's neutral. He won only one round on two judges' scores from the sixth round onwards. I mean, what kind of fight were they watching?” said Warren, blasting the judges for not giving his fighter Fury the win.
“I'm stunned.”@FrankWarren he talks through the scoreboards and how he believes the referees got it wrong…
