Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has addressed recent reports regarding the arrest warrant issued against him in connection with the alleged fraud involving Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) deposits.

According to a Times of India report, the agreement requires Uthappa to pay INR 23,36,602 for the outstanding salary. The former Indian entrepreneur, listed as director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd in Bengaluru, has been asked to appear before the commission by December 27. The warrant also authorizes his arrest if the fine and fine of INR 5000 is not paid within the stipulated time.

Robin Uthappa's response to reports of alleged EPF fraud
Responding to the allegations, Uthappa has issued a statement to clarify his dealings with the companies in question, namely Strawberry Lenceria Pvt. Ltd, Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd and Berryz Fashion House.
“Based on the latest news about the PF case against me, I want to clarify what I am doing with these companies,” he said. Uthappa said, as reported by TOI.
He also explained that he was appointed as a director in the company in the year 2018-19 because of the money he gave to them as a loan. However, the Karnataka boy emphasized that he was not involved in their daily activities. “I did not have a leadership role, nor was I involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. Given my busy schedule as a cricketer, TV presenter and commentator, I neither had the time nor the expertise to engage in their activities. In fact, I don't do much work in some of the companies I've invested in so far,” he said.
Uthappa also revealed that the companies defaulted on the loans they gave, prompting him to initiate legal proceedings, which are still ongoing. The 39-year-old also said that he gave up his leadership years ago.
“When the Provident Fund officials issued notices demanding that I pay the debt, my legal team responded, showing that I have no stake in these companies and submitted documents from the same companies to prove my non-involvement. Despite this, the Provident Fund officials have continued, “ he said.
Uthappa assured that his legal advisers are working hard on the matter and that appropriate steps will be taken to resolve the matter in the coming days.
