Midfielder Jollington is expected to visit Aston Villa on Thursday as he recovers from the injury that took him to hospital following Wednesday's Carabao Cup win at home.
Midfielder Jollington was replaced in Saturday's 4-0 Premier League win over Mapes after he was sent off after a challenge on Nathan Collins.
“He's got all kinds of injuries on his face … he's got two stitches around his ear,” manager Eddie Howe said. “We'll see how he does (Monday).”
Jollington started all 20 of Newcastle's games in all competitions before the trip to Portman Road.

Newcastle injured
Joe Willock is “fine” after receiving treatment in Ipswich for a head injury, said Howe. “It's very important now to keep Joe fit for a sustained spell,” he added. “After a really tough time for him, he's worked hard to get back into shape.”
Willock missed much of last season with hamstring and Achilles tendon injuries, but has played in all but three of his side's games in 2024/25.
Goalkeeper Nick Pope has missed the last three games with a knee injury, while defender Emile Krafth is recovering from a broken collarbone.

Nick Pope 'Strong Feelings'
“Nick Pope is fine,” Howe admitted, adding that he had no idea when the 32-year-old would be able to return.
“Initially, he set a time to rest. I had two injections in my knee and I feel better and stronger.
“(Krafth) ran back onto the grass. The big thing for him will be contact once we reintroduce him to team practice.”

Newcastle are 8th in the Premier League following a 4-0 home win over Leicester City on December 14.
Villa are sixth after recording their third win in four league games with a 2-1 home win over Manchester City on Saturday.
