Sri Lanka announces ODI squad for New Zealand tour; Charith Asalanka to lead



Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have announced their men's squad for the upcoming ODI series new Zealandwhich will start in January 2025. The team of 17 people will be led by Charith Asalanka, showing the opportunity needed for the young leader to show his skills in the Kiwi world.

Series Schedule

The ODI series will be held from January 5 to January 11, 2025, with matches scheduled in Wellington, Hamilton, and Auckland. Game times are as follows:

  • 1 ODI: January 5, 2025, in Wellington
  • 2 YES: January 8, 2025, in Hamilton)
  • 3 YES: January 11, 2025, in Auckland

Team Structure and Expectations

Inclusion of secret spinner Mahesh Theekshana strengthens the bowling threat, while the batting line-up boasts of talented players like Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka. Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dushan Hemantha and Dilshan Madushanka have been replaced by Lahiru Kumara, Eshan Malinga and Wanindu Hasaranga for the New Zealand tour.
