Curmel Moton returns on the Benavidez-Morrell PPV Undercard on February 1st

Lightweight prospect Curmel Moton will reportedly fight on the undercard of David Benavidez vs. David Morrell on February 1st in 40 days on PBC on Prime Video PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Benavidez-Morrell Undercard

The 18-year-old undefeated Moton's opponent and the rest of the card have yet to be announced. It probably won't be a big name for Moton, since he's still a teenager and his promoter is VERY careful putting him together.

It will be interesting to see what weight class the 5'4″ Moton (6-0, 5 KO) will be fighting in for this contest. He weighed in at 139 3/4 lbs for his last fight against Hilario Martinez Moreno on October 12th in Philadelphia. That Moton is already struggling with his weight at 18 years old suggests that he will soon move up to welterweight and be monster fodder in that division.

Although Moton destroyed Moreno in the first round, his arrival at overweight, close to the 140lb mark, is a sign that he may soon be forced to move up to welterweight. At 5'4″, Moton is small for the division and will have trouble against taller fighters. It's built like a square fire hydrant, and you can tell by the look of it that it's going to have trouble if it moves to 140 or more.

Building a record

Moton is one of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s protégés, and is expected to take him slowly as he did with Gervonta 'The Tank' Davis, feeding him bland meals build a record create a money maker.

If Moton follows the same scenario as Tank, he might not be fighting 50-50 until late in his career, when he's in his 30s. Tank was still not in 50-50, and he has been in the professional game for 11 years. So what does that tell you about how Moton will be brought in? You'd think Moton wouldn't be brought in as Tank, but he sure will.
