You'll never be welcome!” The great John Fisher lashed out at Gareth A. Davies

Heavyweight Johnny Fisher's dad, 'Big' John Fisher, confronted journalist Gareth A. Davies today for a tongue-lashing at him for allegedly calling Johnny's 10-round split decision win over Dave Allen a 'robbery' from their Undercard fight last Saturday night at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Need a safe place

This was hilarious watching Big John read Gareth the Riot Act. It was like watching a cartoon of Groucho Marx saying, 'Never darken my towels again.'

'Big' John reflected on Gareth's description of Johnny's win, which was seen as controversial by many boxing fans due to how Allen took control of the fight from the fifth round. Fans were calling it a robbery left and right and felt Allen (23-7-2, 18 KOs) should have won by decision.

Allen dropped the inexperienced 25-year-old Fisher (13-0, 11 KOs) in the fifth round and hurt him in every round from that point on. It looked like a fairly easy fight to score, but the judges made a mess and two gave Fisher points. I was watching it and had Allen winning the last six rounds.

Promoter Eddie Hearn made the mistake of putting a rookie with only 31 rounds under his belt as a pro alongside Dave Allen. In hindsight, it was a bad move.

Fisher looked like he was going well in the 10th, but then got startled and had to hold out. It took away from all the positive things Fisher was doing in the round. That straight hand he was up against should have resulted in a caution or a penalty. He got away with it the whole fight.

The results

95-94: Fisher
96-93: Allen
95-94: Fisher

The Great John Fisher: “I totally respect the opinion of anyone who thought Dave won the fight, but the way you and Spencer went overboard. I thought you were serious journalists. You've shown how incapable you are of reporting on a real fight,” said John iFL TV.

Gareth A. Davies: “Did Johnny win the fight, John?”

Big John: “Yeah, he won the fight. I watched it back. He won the first to fourth rounds. Round ten and round seven, you could count up to Johnny. So you call it robbery and abomination. Gareth, you were welcome in my house before. You will never be welcome in my house again because the way you behave is a complete, utter disgrace.

“Okay, I'll tell you to your face because I'm a man. I don't hold back. Anyone can say that Dave won the fight. Dave's team himself said it wasn't a robbery, and you're shouting things like that. I've lost all respect for you. People said to me, 'Don't respect Gareth Davies.' I lost all respect.”

Gareth: “That's fine. You can go to dinner and we will continue with the interview. Thanks, John.”

Big John: “Don't ever come near me again and don't ever ask me for advice again.”

Gareth: “I don't need your advice.”

Big John: “You know, sir, because you have no idea. When I see you, I'll tell you. I'll tell you to your face. Merry Christmas, YOU GAD.”

Gareth: “Merry Christmas. Let's continue with the interview because John doesn't want to talk about things. He's just mad.”
