The ball has hit the roof of the stadium
I am batting against Perth's top-order batter Cooper ConnollyMelbourne Renegades' right-arm midfield pacer Kane Richardson delivered a length ball slowly outside the off stump. Connolly tried to direct the ball to the side but misfired, sending the ball into the air. In a strange way, the ball hit the roof of the stadium, causing immediate confusion.
Richardson, who was hoping for a one-handed catch, reacted quickly but couldn't find it, instead injuring his hand. According to the rules of the competition, if the ball hits the ceiling and the bowler can catch it with one hand, the batsman is out. However, as Richardson gave up the catch, the umpire called the ball dead, leaving Connolly to continue his layup.
