MS Dhoni and his fans have a mutual love for each other and this is something that has been documented together for years. However, there was a time when he called out the fans for not being supportive. The incident happened in 2006 during England's tour to India.
In the third Test against England in 2006, Dhoni hinted that he had heard fans booing the home team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a period when the team was not at its best and lost the Test in Mumbai, allowing the English to make a comeback in the Test series.
MS Dhoni, who was in Delhi for an event in the first ODI in the city, said the crowd did not get behind the team and “didn't get enough support”.
“We don't get the support we want from our fans, especially when things are not going well for us. I understand that if we play abroad, we will have less support there. When we play in India, we expect good support for us, if you support us strongly, I don't want to be specific, but you You know what happened in Mumbai and here (in the first ODI in Delhi),” he said via EsPNCricinfo.
After leveling the three-match Test series 1-1, India won the seven-match ODI series 5-1. Yuvraj Singh, who celebrates his birthday today, was awarded the Player of the Series for his contribution.

MS Dhoni was appointed the captain of India's white ball team in 2007 and the red ball captaincy came to him in 2008. Under his leadership, the Indian team won the first ever Men's T20I World Cup in 2007 for Men's ODI World Cup. Trophy after 28 years in 2011 and ICC Men's Champions Trophy in 2013.
Dhoni later announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2014 and relinquished the white-ball captaincy to Virat Kohli in 2017. He continued to play as a wicketkeeper and announced his retirement on 15 August 2020 during the semi-final match against New Zealand. The 2019 ICC Men's ODI World Cup is his last game.
MS Dhoni is still an active player and will be in action in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Fans will be looking forward to seeing their favorite players in action.
