Commentator Tim Bradley took to his soapbox to teach fans a lesson for labeling unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 12 KOs) a “great time” for his win over Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KO) last Saturday night in Riyadh.
Former undisputed two-division champion Usyk, 37, defeated former WBC champion Fury for the second time in what looked like an easy feat. Before Usyk defeated 'The Gypsy King' for the first time earlier this year on May 18, fans were calling the 6'9″ British fighter 'The best heavyweight on the planet.'
GOAT Status
Usyk kicked him out of that position, causing fans to change their tune and say he's 'washed up' or 'never as good as he was.' However, 2012 Olympic gold medalist Oleksandr's victories over these top fighters make a strong case that he belongs among the all-time greats:
– Anthony Joshua
– Tyson Fury
– Daniel Dubois
– Mairis Briedis
– Murat Gasijev
– Marco Huck
– Michael Hunter
– Thabiso Mchunu
– Krzysztof Głowacki: *The first defeat in his career
– Tony Bellew
“First of all, I'm not even going to talk about the fight now, I'm going to talk about all this 'All time' big s*** that's going on. All the time great, are you kidding me?” Tim Bradley said further social mediareacting to the praise Oleksandr Usyk received from fans for his victory over Tyson Fury last Saturday night in Riyadh.
“Dude, look. Recency bias. Just because he beat two of the best heavyweights (Fury and Anthony Joshua) doesn't make him an all-time great,” Bradley continued with his demotion of undisputed two-division champion Usyk.
“Usyk, he is NOT an all-time great. You have to stop doing that. He literally had seven fights. Bring on the heavyweight guys. I understand there are accolades. He cleaned up the cruiserweight division. I understand that. Now he comes to the heavyweight division. I wouldn't say he cleaned up, but he beat two of the best guys in the division,” Bradley said of Usyk's victories over two aging British heavyweights, Fury and Joshua.
Department cleaning
Usyk's wins over Fury, Joshua and Dubois mean he has cleaned up the heavyweight division. That, along with his accomplishments as a cruiserweight, makes him great and perhaps the best of all time.
“Now, you say he's an 'all-time great.' Come on man. You all have to stop. He's a legend in his own right, you're all tripping up.”
