Australian captain Pat Cummins struck the first part of his new spell as he dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy on the fourth day of the third Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. The 31-year-old clipped his stumps all-round to derail the tourists in a Test.
The dismissal came in the 60th over of the innings as a length ball from the Aussie skipper went in slightly and Reddy flicked it away from his body. With the ball taking the inside edge of his bat, the youngster clipped the leg bail on the way as he showed his frustration. He had survived 60 deliveries to this point and finished with a 53-run stand with wicketkeeper Ravindra Jadeja.
The 21-year-old has impressed with the bat in this series as he scored 41 for the tourists in the first innings of the Perth Test and an unbeaten 38 in the second. He did the same with 42 in the next Test at Adelaide in both innings.
Pat Cummins had earlier dismissed Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma
Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer picked up two more wickets before dismissing Reddy and sent the opposite number. Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Shalwar packing. The 31-year-old was somewhat flat in the opener at Optus Stadium in Perth, but excelled in the next Test in Adelaide, taking a wicket in the second innings to help Australia level the series.
New South Wales would have KL Rahul in the first over of the fourth day Steve Smith missed the chance to slide. However, the 35-year-old made amends as he caught the eyeballs off the bowling of Nathan Lyon. On the river, India are still around 50 runs away from escaping the chase
