Davies' injury setback puts Postecoglou in a tight spot

A depleted Tottenham Hotspur side will be without Ben Davies at home to Wolves on Sunday after recovering from injury on his return from a hamstring injury.

Wales international Davies has not featured for Spurs since the 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on December 5 and manager Angent Posticoglu expects the 31-year-old to miss another couple of weeks.

Center back Radu Dragusin is a doubt after being sent off in Thursday's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, joining an injury list that included Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Spurs v Wolves: 'Another Test'

“We are in a difficult place and have been for a long time,” Postecoglou said.

Tottenham's only clean sheet in their last nine games came against bottom side Southampton, who scored just four goals above the top flight.

Postecoglou, who moved 18-year-old Archie Gray from midfield to defense to ease the situation, said it was too early to say whether Dragusin would feature at Tottenham.

“He sprained his ankle and felt like he couldn't continue,” added Australia's Anthony Alangar after scoring the only goal of the game. “We have to watch.”

Tottenham results

Spurs have lost four of their last five league games and a 5-0 win at Saints on December 15 represented their only win in their last six top-flight games.

Wolves beat Manchester United 2-0 at home on Thursday after the appointment of manager Vita Piero, extending their record consecutive victories.

They are now the eighth-highest scorers in the division, one point ahead of third-placed Leicester City.
