Legendary Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar he was inducted as an honorary member of the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC). Melbourne Cricket Club, which is one of the oldest sports clubs in Australia, has announced that Sachin Tendulkar has accepted the club's invitation for Honorary Cricket Membership.
The legendary batsman holds the record for most Test runs by an Indian at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. He scored 449 runs from five Tests at an average of 44.90 and a strike rate of 58.69, including a century and three fifties. The former Indian captain was honored with the Order of Australia in 2012.

The Melbourne Cricket Club has officially taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership. The club recognized his outstanding contributions to the sport with this honour.
“An honored icon. The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an honorary cricket membership in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the game,” the caption read.
Sachin Tendulkar played 39 Tests against Australia in his career, scoring 3,630 runs. Tendulkar played 5 Tests and 7 ODIs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, amassing 449 and 190 runs respectively.
Sachin Tendulkar's records and achievements in his illustrious career
Sachin played 200 Tests, 463 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 1 T20I in his 24-year career. He is the all-time highest run-scorer in international cricket, holding records for most runs in both Tests and ODIs.
Tendulkar made his Test debut for India on 15 November 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi and his final match was against the West Indies in Mumbai on 16 November 2013. He scored 100 international centuries and added runs in 664 matches. He was part of India's victorious 2011 ODI World Cup squad.
Tendulkar has received honorary life membership from several prestigious clubs. In 2012, he was honored with life membership of the Sydney Cricket Club, and in 2014, he received the same honor from the Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He is also a life member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
The MCG hosts the fourth Test between India and Australia
The MCG is currently hosting the fourth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. India collapsed to a critical run out from Yashasvi Jaiswal on day two. Jaiswal, who had bowled fluently for his 82 runs off 118 balls, was run out after a mix-up with Virat Kohli (36).
India are still 310 runs behind Australia's first-innings total of 474 and need another 111 runs to avoid the follow-on. At one point, India were placed at 153/2 but lost three wickets in just four overs. The visiting team ended the day on 164/5, with Ravindra Jadeja (4) and Rishabh Pant (6) at the crease.
