Himan Phukan Heaps Praises Ruturaj Gaikwad
Maharashtra beat Meghalaya in a dominant fashion by 9 wickets on Thursday. After the match, Himan rushed to the dressing room to take a picture with Ruturaj Gaikwad.
“With gold medal winning captain of @indiancricketteam at Asian games 2023. Captain of Maharashtra Cricket Association and captain of my all time favorite IPL team @chennaiipl. @ruutu.131. What a calm and composed player you are and a great leader as well, you make batting look as classy as they ever come. It was great to play against you yellow forever,” Himan Phukan wrote in his Instagram story.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was the captain of the indian team who won the Gold Medal at the Asian Games in October 2023. Prior to that, he was appointed captain of Chennai Super Kings in the following IPL 2023 MS Dhoni stepping out of the role. He led the team to the finals, where they eventually lost to Gujarat Titans. However, Gaikwad has emerged as one of the leading contenders for captaincy within the Indian Cricket fraternity.
Maharashtra defeated Meghalaya by 9 Wickets
Talking about the game, Maharashtra beat Meghalaya in quite a dominant fashion. Siddhes Veer was the hero of Maharashtra's win as he contributed with both ball and bat. Meghalaya had won the toss and decided to bat first. Siddhesh Veer's 3-wicket haul helped Maharashtra restrict Meghalaya to a modest total of 113 in 37.1 overs.
Chasing the target, it was once again Siddesh Veer who emerged as the villain of Meghalaya. Opening the batting, Veer scored 57 not out from 66 balls as Maharashtra easily chased down the total in 19.2 overs. The win took Maharashtra to the top of the Group B points table.
