Indian national cricket team captain Rohit Sharma spoke about the controversial dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings of the fourth Test against the Australian national cricket team. He said they have been unfortunate in recent series and fall on the wrong side.
In what was a massive turning point in the context of the fourth over, Yashasvi Jaiswal perished to a controversial dismissal against Pat Cummins. It probably changed the outcome of the game as the Australian national cricket team won the match by a massive margin of 184 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has a controversial dismissal against Pat Cummins at the MCG
While bowling to Pat Cummins, the skipper of the Australian national cricket team bowled a short ball around leg. Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to play the pull shot but failed to grab it as he ended up handing it to Alex Carey who dived forward and took it inches off the ground.
The field umpire didn't lift a finger and with extreme optimism Pat Cummins went for DRS. As replays were shown, there appeared to be a clear deflection, and the third umpire was convinced there was a deflection after the ball went through the gloves. But what was shocking to see was Snicko.
There was no catch for Snicko but the third umpire didn't believe it as he went with visual evidence and overturned the decision and the batsman had to take a long walk back to the pavilion. But he was upset with the call and was seen arguing with the referee.
I don't know what to make of it because the tech didn't show anything – Rohit Sharma on Yashasvi Jaiswal's sacking
Rohit Sharma was asked about the dismissal but the Indian national cricket team captain did not have a clear answer for the same. He said that although Yashasvi Jaiswal touched the ball, he is not sure how the umpires want to use the technology. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Look, I don't know what to make of this because the tech didn't show anything. With the naked eye, it looked like he touched something. I don't know how the refs want to use the technology, but in all fairness he touched the ball, but again, it's about the technology, which we all know is not 100%.
It's just that most of the time we fall on the wrong side – Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma also pointed out that they have been unlucky since the last few series as most of the dismissals have gone against them. He explained:
“Like I said, we don't want to look too much into it. It's just that, most of the time, we fall on the wrong side. It is happening from India. I think I was a bit unlucky.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal who played an innings of 82 runs in the first innings also played an innings of 84 runs in the second innings as well. He batted 208 balls in the second innings and also slammed 8 boundaries in his innings. After his wicket, India lost quick wickets and lost the match.
