Celtic interested in Kieran Tierney as Arsenal make contract decision

Arsenal have reportedly told Kieran Tierney they will not exercise the one-year option on his contract, sparking interest in a reunion from former employers Celtic.

A graduate of Celtic's academy, Tierney has managed 125 appearances for Arsenal since his move to the Emirates Stadium in 2019. Despite initially being touted as the next captain, the Scot fell out of favor in 2022/23 and spent the season loaned to Real Sociedad.

Tierney is in the final year of his contract and, according to Athleticsno new terms will be offered, with Arsenal rejecting the chance to trigger a 12-month extension to his current deal.

This means that the left-back will go free tRANSFER at the end of the season unless a sale can be agreed in January, with several Premier League sides believed to be interested in acquiring the 27-year-old's signature.

However, English teams can expect competition from Celtic. Telegraph State Tierney is wanted for a reunion at Celtic Park, although his high wages could complicate a January pursuit.

Celticfor whom Tierney made 170 appearances, is likely to favor a summer move but is expected to begin contact with the left-back in January, when he will be free to discuss a contract with non-English sides.

The Premier League suitors will have to agree a fee with Arsenal before being given permission to speak to Tierney.
