India were blasted after the Sydney Test debacle


The New Year Test between India and Australia began on January 3 at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). It is a do-or-die encounter for Team India as Australia have already taken a 2-1 lead in the ongoing 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Well, the pitch and the captain have changed, and even the year, but Virat Kohli's old problems remain the same as the former Indian captain once again left one and all disappointed with his batting in the ongoing fifth and final Test against Australia in Sydney.

Virat Kohli's off-stump woes resurface in Sydney, fans call for retirement

On the third ball of the 32nd over, Scott Boland managed to edge India's senior batsman, with Beau Webster caught at third slip. Scott Boland continued to test Kohli outside off-stump and eventually got the upper hand. The Aussie pacer delivered a 135.8kph delivery, just outside off and behind a length, and Virat Kohli, moving away from the crease to counter the movement, hit it lightly.

The ball took the edge and flew to Beau Webster, who dived to his left to take a snap catch. Kohli couldn't soften his hands enough and India are now in serious trouble, four wickets down for just 72. Kohli bowled similar deliveries earlier but couldn't control his intent and lost the wicket, departing for just 17 off. 69 balls at SCG.

After another debacle in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, fans went crazy on Virat Kohli for going out in the same style. Fans started sharing Thank you Virat Kohli posts calling for his retirement from Test cricket. Many called him a bad beater.
