Ange Postecoglou compares the work of Tottenham to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has highlighted the brutal reality of being a Premier League manager, suggesting the scrutiny is even more intense than being UK Prime Minister.

Postecoglou has faced pressure this season amid challenging results in November and December, putting him under the media spotlight and enduring friction with Spurs fans.

Tottenham beat Southampton 5-0 last weekendtheir first win after a five-match winless run in all competitions which saw Saints boss Russell Martin was fired within hours.

“Now they don't even let you off in the morning. You have to change your song,” he said Postecogloureferring to the famous song addressed to managers under pressure.

“We've lost all kinds of respect in our society where the guys are at work and they're putting the names of who's going to replace them while they're still working. We've crossed that line now and it's wide open .We are so quick to just trash people and move on without a second thought or care.

“I have people who say: 'Managers are always fired.' I just think it's gone beyond that, where we forget there's a human being involved now that this role now means you get into it and very few will come out of it unscathed.

“How many times does (the prime minister) have an election? I have one every weekend, mate. We have an election every weekend and we're either in or out.”
