Jasprit Bumrah broke Bishan Singh Bedi's record in away series

Jasprit Bumrah set a new benchmark for most wickets by an Indian bowler in an away Test series, surpassing Bishan Singh Bedi's record of 31 wickets in the 1977-78 tour of Australia. Bumrah was unable to bowl on the final day of the fifth Test due to back spasms, where India suffered a six-wicket loss.

Australia were chasing 162 runs to secure victory. The defeat knocked India out of contention for the World Test Championship final, which will be played between Australia and South Africa in June.

Bumrah played 45 Tests and took 205 wickets, including 13 five-wicket hauls. He is expected to have a short break before the next series against England ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
