Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the arrival of Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky in a deal thought to be in the region of £10m.
The former goalkeeper of Slavia Prague was alone linked to a move to Spurs over the weekend after reports claimed the 21-year-old had flown to London for a medical on Saturday. Kinsky put pen to paper before the deal was revealed on Sunday morning by the club's official website.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of Antonin Kinsky from SK Slavia Prague, on international and work permit,” a club statement said. The 21-year-old goalkeeper has agreed to a deal that will last until 2031 and will wear the number 31 shirt.
No transfer fee was officially disclosed, but Fabrizio Romano claimed the figure was “more than £10m”.
Tottenham are woefully short of goalkeeping options and Kinsky could get between the posts for his debut as soon as the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Wednesday – if all the legal documentation surrounding the deal has been processed by then.
After Fraser Forster's illness forced him out with long-term absentee Guglielmo Vicario, Ange Postecoglou was forced to hand Tottenham's third-choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin his first-team debut on Saturday for the visit of Newcastle United. While he didn't embarrass himself, the goalkeeper struggled to shoot conceded twice in a 2-1 loss which extended Tottenham's miserable form at home.
