Hobart Hurricanes secured a comprehensive five-wicket victory over Adelaide Strikers in Match 24 of the Big Bash League 2024-25 at Belleive Oval. Chasing a tough target of 187, the Hurricanes rode on Tim David's knock to register their fourth consecutive win of the season.
Adelaide Strikers set a perfect match
After electing to bat first, the Strikers posted a total of 186/5, thanks to contributions from Chris Lynn (49 off 27) and Alex Ross (47 off 29). Lynn's aggressive start included four fours and three sixes, while Ross lit up the middle overs with two fours and a maximum. Ollie Pope chipped in with a steady 33 off 27, making sure there was a podium finish. Jamie Overton provided the late shots with a quick 27 not out off 18 balls.
The Hobart bowlers had mixed chats. Waqar Salamkheil was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/22 in his two overs, while Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake claimed a wicket each. Chris Jordan endured a difficult night, scoring 46 runs in his four overs but managed to take the vital wicket of Ross.

In reply, the Hurricanes got off to a flying start as Mitchell Owen played a fiery 37 off just 16 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes. Matthew Wade also delivered 27 off 18, setting up the middle order. However, the home side lost the wickets of Shai Hope (11) and Ben McDermott (17) cheaply.
It was Tim David who turned the game on its head with a blistering 62 not out from just 28 balls, with four fours and a huge six. By the critical juncture of the game, David was dominating the bowlers with a stunning display of batting power. His partnership with Nikhil Chaudhary (22 off 22) strengthened the innings before he produced a boundary to take the game away from the Strikers. Jordan sealed victory with a boundary, as the Hurricanes chased down the target in just 18.4 overs.

For the Strikers, Cameron Boyce stood with figures of 2/23 in his four overs, while Lloyd Pope picked up two wickets but it proved costly, scoring 38 runs. Henry Thornton was the only other bowler to take a wicket, but the rest struggled with the batting. and the Hurricanes.
