The great run continues with Forest still in third place

Nottingham Forest recorded their sixth successive Premier League win, beating a much-improved Wolves side to move level with second-placed Arsenal.

Goalkeeper Matz Sells made some fine saves to keep Wolves in a bright first-half display, while at the other end Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awonyi all scored with impressive counter-attacks.

Wolverhampton coach Vitor Pereira will be happy with the fact that his team created many good chances but were unable to convert them and Forest were adept at finishing off the chances they had.

Former Wolverhampton coach Nuno Espirito Santo saw his team lead in 16 out of 20 league matches, trailing only six points behind Liverpool, which they will host next week.

With New England boss Thomas Tuchel in the stands, Forest celebrated the 50th anniversary of the appointment of their greatest manager Brian Clough in style.

Elliot Anderson's pass forward found Gibbs White who ran into the Wolves defence, exchanged passes with Anthony Elanga and found the bottom corner via a deflection.

The former Wolves man was left heartbroken from the kick-off by the home fans and celebrated by putting his fingers in his ears.

Murillo's stunning goal-line save from Jurgen Strand prevented Larsen from equalizing after a brilliant run from Hwang Hee Chan, before Sales made a superb save from Rodrigo Gomez's shot.

Another great save from Larsen's header from close range before Forest thought they had a penalty for handball but a VAR check was deferred for Rayan Ait Nouri.

A long ball then allowed strikers Callum Hudson-Odoi to make a quick run down the left flank and he was able to pass the ball to Wood, who scored his 12th goal of the season.

Larsen saved another good effort after the break but Forest ran the game superbly to win again – with substitute Onyi on hand to fire home James Ward-Prowse's pass after another electric break at the end.
