The Everton boss has no idea if the owners will talk to other managers after the Potter talks.

Sean Dyche says he does not know whether Everton's new owners have spoken to other candidates to succeed him.

According to recent reports, the Toffees' new owners, the Friedkin Group, are reviewing Dyche's position after Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth left them just one point above the relegation zone.

Former Chelsea boss Graham Porter has already sounded the Toffees' replacement for the 53-year-old, with suggestions he has held talks with both the Merseyside club and West Ham.

Facing the media ahead of Thursday's FA Cup third-round tie, Dyche insisted the owners have accepted the succession plan.

He said: “It should be (at a club where you look to the future). If you are a club business of this size, succession planning should be part of their due diligence.

“I have no problem with that. This should be in every football team. That's part of the business.

“I never concern myself with that. You have to win the games. We haven't won enough this season. You have to please everyone all the time. That's work. That's all I have without a shadow of a doubt.

“We've had positive conversations and they know the work they've done and they want better results from winning games. The situation is real, That's all I know. They were very straight forward with me.

“I don't necessarily say whether they've talked to other managers or not. I don't know how it all works in the secretive world, but if they have a succession plan.

“It's also a business, and I understand that should be part of the operation of any business, no matter who it is.”

Dyche: I'm a manager at Everton.

Everton's poor form has forced the owners to reconsider Dyche's future after initially wanting to keep him on board to steady the ship until the summer.

He added: “We're still putting in a lot. I'm trying a lot in different ways, trying to look at different frames.

“That's part of being a manager. I am an expert at this. That is difficult; It is very difficult here. I've been open about it.

“There is a huge need here; There is a great need for me and it is constant. That's part of life at Everton. We made it convenient. I had knocks, I got them back. I've been through it. How do you deal with that?

“The club is always bigger than me; I see that I am the guardian. I think I've dealt with it bloody well so far, though. I think we're going to win some games and try to change the narrative.”

Dyche responds to Carragher criticism.

Everton's poor form was discussed on Sky Sport's Monday Night Football this week, with Jamie Carragher highlighting their struggles to score from open play.

The former Liverpool defender said Toffee had only scored 26 goals since the start of last season, ranking 17th in the entire league.

Dyche said: “I take responsibility for everything. We have a department where you don't have to watch TV (to get statistics),” he said.

“Someone sent it to me and I think Carra is very fair. We are like a team from the 90s. He is dynamic and dynamic in playing to score goals, but also has stamina.

“We know the statistics and the facts; I know it needs fixing. It is a continuous work in progress. We have no end to the players we've got and how we can utilize them in different roles. We look forward to making changes and how to make it better.”

Everton's transfer plans

Dyche also questioned whether their new owners would support the club in the January transfer window.

Everton have already been linked with Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene, who Spurs attempted to sign in the summer ahead of his return to Villa Park.

The Toffees manager suggested the Merseyside side would be active in the transfer market, saying: “There are people like me who work really hard to get it right. If I can work in the market, I will.

“I know my job and responsibility. We haven't won enough games and that needs to change.”
