Former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke shared his opinion that he believes he has the title of fastest bowler in all three sports. In a recent chat, Clarke explained what makes a fast bowler stand out, especially when playing different formats like Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20Is.
Michael Clarke picks the best runner in the format
Clarke, after pondering over the fast-paced sports, called India Jasprit Bumrah as the fastest runner he had ever seen in any form. Clarke praised Bumrah's ability to perform consistently, which, according to him, sets him apart from other fast bowlers.
The former Australian captain went on to explain that Bumrah's incredible versatility in different conditions and formats, along with his match-winning skills, has made him a household name. Clarke emphasized that Bumrah's ability in different formats – whether it is his fearsomeness in T20s or his ability to bowl long in Tests – is what makes him extraordinary.
“The thing I thought about Bumrah, after the series was over and I was thinking about what he played, I think he is the fastest bowler out of the three,” he said. Clarke told ESPN's Around The Wicket.

Clarke thinks big about the past
Clarke acknowledged the strong influence of legendary cricketers of the past, citing Curtly Ambrose and Glenn McGrath. However, he said that these legends did not have the opportunity to play T20 cricket, which is the most important part of the game today. While their contributions were immense, Clarke believes Bumrah's ability to excel in all three formats makes him stand out.
“I know a lot of fast bowlers, Curtly Ambrose, Glenn McGrath, they haven't played T20 cricket, so I'm not talking about these guys, but as far as anyone who has played all three formats, I think it could be the best of all. He's that good in every situation, that's what makes him be great; whatever, whatever kind, this man is wonderful,” added Clarke.
