Lamine Yamal has confirmed that he plans to sign a new contract with Barcelona as soon as possible.
The teenage superstar has entered the final 18 months of his current contract, which he signed in October 2023 and was limited to three years by Spanish law due to his age.
When he signed that deal, however, the general terms of a deal for another extension were reached with agent Jorge Mendes, with Barcelona is believed to be planning a new four-year contract to keep Yamal at the club until 2030. However, with the new deal yet to be signed, some fans are beginning to fear a potential exit – not least because THE Paris Saint-Germain's attempt to sign him for €250 million in the summer.
Putting those fears to bed in unsafe conditions, Yamal said CNN: “I don't know when (the contract will be signed), but I believe it will be soon.
“At the end of the day, Barça is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and be with them as long as possible.
“I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barca, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will.”
Mendes has also given his assurance of a new contractrecently insisting that his client will soon commit to Camp Nou.
