Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been granted provisional playing registrations by the Spanish government despite repeated rejections by the Spanish FA and La Liga in recent weeks.
Spanish Sports Council The Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) ruled on Wednesday that the two players should have options until a definitive ruling is made in the case.
Olmo and Victor remained unregistered in La Liga on December 31 after Barcelona missed a deadline to prove compliance with the league's financial fair play rules.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga FA (RFEF) rejected the club's attempt to re-register the players, and the Catalan club submitted a 52-page appeal and more than 60 documents to the CSD, Spain's highest sports council. Government.
Olmo has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave on a free transfer if he doesn't sign up, but both he and Victor are committed to staying at the club.

La Liga rules do not allow a player to be registered twice in the same season, but Wednesday's ruling meant the duo could feature at least once more for Barcelona in all competitions this season.
In a statement, the CSD approved Barcelona's “emergency precautionary measure requested by FC Barcelona and players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.”
“This measure is provisional until the club and the above-mentioned players' appeals are clearly resolved, pending the agreement of the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Committee dated January 4, 2025, and the sporting licenses of the above-mentioned players have been revoked.”
The news came shortly before the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Barcelona, but neither player was included in the squad for tonight's game.
Manager Hansi Flick said before the match: “I'm very happy with (the verdict). I think the whole team is happier with Dani and Pau. And so does everyone in the club.
“It was the right decision.”

Barcelona sporting director Deco echoed Flick's sentiments, saying: “I'm happy for the players. We went through very difficult days and the players wanted to play.
“But we're very happy with the result, CSD proved us right, and that's the important thing.”
However, Jon Uriarte, president of Barcelona's semi-final rivals Athletic Club, said: “We are seeing ridiculous things,” adding that “things like this do not please Spanish football.”
