Akash Deep's absence from Vijay Hazare Trophy confirmed as pacer heads to NCA


Fast bowler of the Indian national cricket team Akash Deep is all set to be kicked out of the knockout stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. According to reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that the fast bowler will head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.

Akash Deep will miss Bengal's match against Haryana to be played on January 9 in Vadodara. This comes after the fast bowler of the Indian national cricket team suffered an injury during the fourth game of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.

The reports also added that the nagging back that has been troubling Akash Deep since 2019 and along with performances, he needs to manage that as well. With Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana doing a decent job, the future might not be good for Deep.

Akash Deep's injury marks the second injury for the Indian national cricket team after the Test series against the Australian national cricket team. After the final game of the series, it was jasprit bumrah who also got injured and so far there is no clarity on his condition.
