Rob Edwards has left Luton by mutual consent after four consecutive defeats and the threat of relegation from the Championship.
Edwards left the Hatters after more than two years at Kenilworth Road, leading them to the Premier League for the first time via the play-offs in 2022-23.
The Bedfordshire side finished 18th in the Premier League last season and have struggled since their return to the second tier after losing 2-0 to QPR on Monday, leaving them just two points off the bottom three.
A statement from the Hatters said: “The current campaign in the Championship has not improved significantly as expected and following Monday's defeat to QPR the board and Rob have agreed to part company amicably.”
Edwards will remain a popular figure at Luton despite his departure after leading the Hatters to the top flight for the first time in 30 years.
The statement read: “We could not have asked for a better person to be the manager of Luton Town, who acts as an ambassador for the club and community in the global media spotlight.”
Luton have won just seven of their 26 Championship games this season and lost nine in a row.
We can confirm that Rob Edwards has resigned from his position as manager by mutual consent.

CEO Gary Sweet said, “As with all decisions to part ways with a manager; It was a difficult decision to come to with Rob having handled his two years at the club with such skill and dignity. This week we really come to a mutual conclusion.
“Rob gave us some of our greatest days to celebrate as Hatters. Two emphatic derby victories at Kenilworth Road; The play-off final at Wembley and our season in the Premier League will live with us forever and in doing so Rob has earned himself legendary status.
“The results this season, particularly at home, were clearly unacceptable and we all supported Rob and his team in every way we could, but with 20 league games left to play, we all felt this needed to be rectified.
“It is typical of Rob's humility to recognize himself and not just as a former manager, but as a trusted friend who has left his mark on every player and staff member.
“Rob and his family always welcome visitors to Kenilworth Road. The door is always open. on behalf of the Board; I would like to thank him deeply for two years of tireless work and many memories, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
