Everton have confirmed they have sacked manager Sean Dyche just hours before their FA Cup third round tie with Peterborough.
Dyche, who joined in January 2023, guided the team to just three wins from 19 games this season and leaves with Everton just one point clear of the relegation zone.
Recently he admitted that the results were not expected and admitted that his position was right to be under threat.
“To be clear, it should be,” he said. “At the end of the day, if you're a business of this size and this club, succession planning should certainly be part of their due diligence.
“You've got to win games, we haven't won enough this season, you've got to make sure the team is working the right way, you've got to try and please everybody, all the time. That's work, and we don't we've done it often enough, and it comes to me, without a doubt.”
Dyche leaves along with coaching staff Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer.
Everton have begun the search for a new manager but, in the meantime, will leave first-team duties to Under-18s manager Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman, who will take charge of the Toffees in Thursday's FA clash Cup with Peterborough.
