Manchester United star Amad Diallo has signed a new long-term contract with the club, committing his future to Old Trafford until 30 June 2030.
The Ivory Coast international has enjoyed strong form since Ruben Amorim arrived, thriving at full-back and as part of a front three. Amad scored his sixth goal of the season to secure one 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The 22-year-old's deal was set to expire at the end of the season – although the club always had the option of a one-year extension – and he was reportedly object of interest from two other clubs.
“I'm really proud to have signed this new contract,” Amad told United's official website after putting pen to paper. “I've had some incredible moments with this club already, but there's a lot more to come. I have big ambitions in the game and I want to make history in Manchester United.
“I have learned a lot since I came here four years ago; I am very grateful to the coaches and staff who have helped me develop, and the fans who push me forward every day.
“It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I fully believe that we are on the right track and the future will be really special. I am ready to give everything to help the team and make our supporters again proud.”
Manchester United technical director Jason Wilcox – who has taken an increasingly involved role since The sudden departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth – was full of praise for the young striker.
“Everyone is delighted with Amad's development; his quality on the ball, versatility and determination make him a key part of Manchester United's future,” said the Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers.
“The best years of his career are ahead of him and we all look forward to helping Amad reach his incredible potential and achieve success at the club in the coming seasons.”
