India's star speedster jasprit bumrah He was named the Player of the Series for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), making history as the first Indian player to achieve the feat in three SENA nations. Meanwhile, Australia sealed their victory with a six-wicket lead in Sydney to secure the series 3-1.
Bumrah missed the fourth innings of the fifth Test against Australia due to a back spasm. Nevertheless, he was the standout performer of the series, finishing with 32 wickets in nine innings, an impressive average of 13.06 and three five-wicket hauls.
The 31-year-old also created history by eclipsing Bishan Singh Bedi's 47-year-old record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler in an away Test series.
His outstanding performance earned him the coveted Player of the Series award, making him the only Indian cricketer to achieve this feat against three SENA nations.
Bumrah claimed the prestigious honor during India's 2022-23 tour of England, where he scored 23 goals in five matches. He also won the award during the 2023-24 tour of India South Africahe took 12 wickets in two matches.

Stand India captain Jasprit Bumrah has addressed his decision not to bowl during the fourth innings of the fifth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, stressing the importance of listening to and respecting his body's limitations. Speaking at the event postgame conferenceThe 31-year-old football player, who was selected as the player of the series, said:
“It's a bit frustrating, but sometimes you have to respect your body and you can't fight your body. Sometimes you have to accept it. I would love to play on the spiciest wicket of the series. I felt a bit uneasy after the first innings. .”
“It was about confidence. Other bowlers have also stepped up in the first innings. The conversation this morning was also about faith. Lots of ifs and buts. The whole series was well fought. We were there today. It was a well-fought series,” he added.
Bumrah represented India in 45 Tests, scoring 205 wickets, including 13 five-wickets.
