The GTA 6 mapping project has been in the works for over two years now, and fans have discovered a lot of things from the upcoming game. The project started after the first Grand Theft Auto 6 leak in September 2022 and is currently at version 0.047.
Although Rockstar Games has yet to reveal the full map of the upcoming game, the GTA 6 mapping project gives a rough idea of the open world. This article lists five great details that can be gleaned from the fan-made map so far.

Five interesting details from GTA 6 mapping project v0.047
1) Other areas from Leonidas province
While being the first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer showed us some areas in Vice City and an unnamed location in the province of Leonidas, there's good news for fans of the GTA 6 mapping project. The project has mapped various other locations based on the September 2022 leaks and trailer.
While Vice City is the main attraction of the upcoming map, the mapping project also revealed the following areas:
- Homestead
- Gator switches
- Alligator Creek
- Port Gellhorn
- Lake Leonidas
- Redhill
- Hank Hill
- Ambrosia
- Sea view
- GREENHOUSE
- Yorktown
- Bohemia
It should be noted that there are many other small areas nearby.
2) New details of Port Gellhorn
Port Gellhorn is believed to be one of the main locations in Grand Theft Auto 6. Although Rockstar Games has yet to officially reveal this area, the GTA 6 mapping project has provided a rough plan.
Port Gellhorn was originally believed to be a flat area towards the northwest corner of the map. However, GTA 6 Mapping project v0.047 showed that it has a partially enclosed body of water with various important facilities nearby.
The project also noted that the above scene from the first trailer (pictured) took place in Port Gellhorn.
3) Locations from leaked clips
The GTA 6 leaks from September 2022 contain 90 unfinished gameplay clips that give us a very early look at the upcoming game. While the leaks didn't make it into the map, the GTA 6 mapping project was able to pinpoint locations from the leaked clips.
It should also be noted that the leaked clips were the first source to develop the upcoming open world.
4) Locations from the first trailer
Immediately after the release of the first official trailer, the GTA 6 mapping project was able to mark the locations of certain scenes from the video. The team was also able to determine where the above scene (image) occurred on the map.
Rockstar Games includes several scenes from Vice City and several scenes from Port Gellhorn, Flamingo Beach, Gator Keys and other locations. However, we will have to wait The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to be sure.
5) North side of the map
The north side of the Grand Theft Auto 6 map still remains a mystery to fans. According to the GTA 6 mapping project, the Port Gellhorn scene is the northernmost location Rockstar used in the first trailer.
However, over time the mapping project was able to predict a rough layout of the north side of the map. Therefore, the north side has the following places:
- GREENHOUSE
- Saint Joseph
- Sea view
- Yorktown
- Bohemia
