14-year-old Ira Jadhav etched her name in the record books after her magnificent effort with the bat in the U-19 Women's One Day Cup on Sunday (January 12). She became the first Indian cricketer to score a triple century in a limited overs match.
Ira Jadhav achieved the feat while playing for Mumbai in the Women's U-19 One Day Cup match against Meghalaya. The match between the two teams took place at the Alur Cricket Ground and saw history being written by the young batsman.

Ira Jadhav, who was named as one of the three back-up players for India in the upcoming U-19 Women's World Cup, played a mammoth innings of 346 runs off 157 balls. Thus, her team Mumbai posted a mammoth total on the board and took command of the game.
Ira Jadhav was at his aggressive best as he hit 42 fours and 16 sixes in the innings. The 14-year-old didn't put a foot wrong in her innings as she added 274 runs for the second wicket with captain Hurley Gala (116) and then stitched 186 runs for the third wicket with Diksha Pawar (39) .
Thanks to her magnificent effort with the bat, Mumbai posted a total of 563 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs. Her innings would have certainly sent a strong message to the selectors and might even force them to add the batsman to the main squad for the upcoming U-19 Women's World Cup.

Ira Jadhav also became the first Indian cricketer to hit triple century in 50+ cricket. If given the opportunity in the main squad for the World Cup, she would be keen to maintain her good form in the tournament and help the team lift the tournament.
Her stunning effort with the bat even saw former Indian women's national cricket team captain Diana Edulji praising her for the effort. She told the Times of India, “Hats off to Ira who is an under-15 player who plays all age groups. I hope to see her in Indian colours”.

Ira Jadhav recently became the youngest player to sign up for the WPL 2025 auction. However, she remained unsold, but with her now playing a gigantic innings, she would surely be under the radar of some franchises, especially if there were injuries in training camp before or during the tournament.
Barring her, only four women cricketers have scored a double century at the U19 level. They include current India captain Smriti Mandhana (224 not out in 2013), Raghvi Bist (219 not out), Jemimah Rodrigues (202 not out) and Sanika Chalke (200).
