Former India all-rounder Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his anger at not being part of the post-match trophy presentation after the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Sydney. Originating in the 1996-97 India-Australia Test series, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is named after Indian and Australian icons Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border respectively.
Cricket Australia (CA) must have planned the launch that way Gavashkar If they retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, they will give the trophy to the Indian captain and Border would do the same if Australia wins.

Speaking about the same after the launch, Gavaskar was quoted by Code Sports (via Indian Express):
“Of course I would love to be there for the presentation. After all, it's the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it's about Australia and India. I mean, I'm here. It doesn't matter to me whether Australia won. As for the presentation, they played better cricket because I am an Indian Border.”
India have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the last four editions. However, Australia finally got their hands on the coveted trophy for the first time since 2014-15.

Sunil Gavaskar recently expressed his love Allan Sarhad and said their relationship began in 1987 during the MCC Bicentennial celebrations.
The duo amassed 10,000 runs each in Test cricket, combining for an incredible 61 centuries as they dominated the 1970s and 1980s with their willows.
“I love AB (Border) very much. The relationship really blossomed when we both played for the Rest of the World team and the WC team during the MCC Bicentennial celebrations in 1987. We traveled together for three weeks and played a few matches. Before the MCC game against County We really got to know each other, the culture, the people,” he said.
“A bit like the IPL does these days, it brings people from different countries together. I feel honoured, privileged and blessed that the series between India and Australia is named after us. Such a landmark series – it's a blessing,” he said.
As for the recently concluded ones 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar TrophyIndia won the first Test in Perth before Australia won three of the next four encounters.
